Fall Trends You Can Actually Wear

There’s a chill in the air which means sweater weather is upon us. It’s time to -reluctantly- switch out your tanks and shorts for layers, boots and leggings. Even though it’s hard to see summer leave, it’s time for a wardrobe revamp and looking at the variety of falls trends – this season did not disappoint.

From throwbacks to classics and everything in between, this fall’s trends are anything but ordinary. With the help of Indigo Clothing Boutique (follow @indigo.the.label) I’ll take you through some of the best trends for this season and show you how you can incorporate them into your daily look.

A Nod to the Past: Striped 90's Sweaters

Stripes are here to stay and apparently so are the 90’s. A mixture of stripes with a muted color palette makes this look a 90’s inspired must have. If you’re not into the muted palettes - don’t worry - bright stripes against a knitted light color sweater will give the same 90’s feel.

Can't Get Enough Of: Oversized Sweaters

Oversized Sweater

It’s a fall must have and a trend that hasn’t gone away. It’s not surprising that oversized sweaters are again a staple for the fall. There’s nothing better than burying yourself in a warm cozy sweater when the weather starts to turn.

2 for 1 Outfit: Statement Hats and Plaid

Another vintage feel, statement hats replace the beanie and plaid gets a new look. While button up plaid shirts are still a go to, different silhouettes and structures in this pattern are making headway. Pair the two together for a stronger statement or wear separately for more of a casual look.

A Classic Twist: Preppy

This is not your typical argyle pattern and sweater vest look. V necks, button ups and blazers take a more modern approach. Pairing a classic preppy piece with a more unconventional counterpart makes this look updated and fresh. Classic style with a touch of edge.

New Favorite: Teddy Coat

Teddy Coat

Shearling - the softest material of the season. This trend not only looks great, it feels great and it’s extremely warm. These coats are the perfect staple for your outdoor adventures.  This trend comes in so many different styles from longer hems to bomber crops, it’s easy to see why these coats are everywhere.

Best Staples: Jean Jacket and White Tee

Jean Jacket

This trend carries over from your spring/summer wardrobe, but it is worth a mention because of the high versatility of these two well known staples. If you want to go for more of a fall specific look, try a colored jean jacket with black jeans (pictured). It will give these staples a fall boost that it deserves.

Green Glam: Jewel Tones and Silk

Silk gives this season a reason to dress like a boss babe. Pairing it with jewel tones and an unstructured blazer elevates these fall trends to a whole other level. Deep and bright jewel tone colors and silk in any form (think scarves, slip dresses, blazers) are the seasons best go to’s for a sophisticated and refined look.
